Sentinel-2 Satellite Imagery-Based Assessment of Soil Salinity in Irrigated Rice Fields in Portugal

چکیده
Salinization is a major soil degradation threat in irrigated lands worldwide. In Portugal, it affects several pockets of agricultural areas, but the spatial distribution and intensity salinity are not well known. Unlike conventional approaches to appraise salinity, remote sensing multispectral data have great potential for detecting, monitoring, investigating problems areas. This study explores assessment rice cultivation fields using two types multispectral-based indices calculated from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery: (i) vegetation (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, Green Normalized Generalized Index Soil Adjusted Index), monitor indirect effect on growth; (ii) indicators, namely those based visible near-infrared bands Salinity Index) shortwave infrared (Salinity ASTER). The Lower Mondego Valley (Central Portugal) period 2017–2018. Results revealed that can be used mapping constitute valuable tool areas affected by issues. As there less reported inventorying extent such this innovative approach allowed technology add understanding undertaking more studies spatially temporally.

Surface soil moisture is an important variable that plays a crucial role in the management of water and soil resources. Estimating this parameter is one of the important applications of remote sensing. One of the remote sensing techniques for precise estimation of this parameter is data-driven models. In this study, volumetric soil moisture content was estimated using data-driven models, suppor...
متن کاملMulti-Temporal Assessment of Mangrove Forests Change in the Coastal Areas of Bushehr Region Based on Landsat Satellite Imagery
Continual access to precise information about the land use/land cover (LULC) changes of the Earth’s surface is extremely important for any sustainable development program in which LULC serves as one of the major input criteria. In this study, a supervised classification was applied to three Landsat images collected in 1986, 1998and 2018, providing mangrove forests change data in the coastal are...
